CAL-Northern Kentucky Gets Award from City of Covington

Keep Covington BeautifulOn behalf of the Center for Accessible Living, CAL staff member Rene Thompson joined the city of Covington’s Adopt-a-Site program as another way to give CAL exposure in the community. Rene selected Lance Corporal Justin Simms Memorial Park, adjacent to St. Elizabeth Hospital. In caring for the park, Rene has been able to introduce herself and the Center to different people within city government while making suggestions on accessibility for the park. Rene and CAL were recently given an award by the city for being the organization that updated their spot the most.

Rene is trying to get the city to install an accessible swing at the park. Eventually, she hopes to convince the city council and the parks department to make the park fully accessible.
